Thoughts and Sounds

Alex McDowall (guitar) and Pablo Sonnaillon (double bass), also known as Bric-a-brac, play jazz standards in a style characterised by its fluid and whimsical changes of character - an avant-garde exploration within the jazz tradition with inspiration from musicians such as Jim Hall and Charlie Haden. They have performed in venues in Liverpool and Manchester with Elspeth McLean (poet), who weaves words from her poems into the texture of the music.

Wordy Lirpa is a poet and host from Liverpool and the creator of Outspoken Poetry, who also occasionally writes about love.

Saint Vespaluus first began performing spoken word in Cambridge in the eighties, and after a (very) long hiatus, he returned to Liverpool in 2020. He has performed at festivals, Prides and in his own solo headline shows, as well as opening for rock bands and comedy performers.

Dan Cullinan, also known as Cullo, started writing poetry in 2017 and has released two collections of work, as well as founding Give Poetry A Chance. In addition to curating this series of free-to-attend poetry events throughout Liverpool, Dan has performed his poetry at various events including Blast!, Leap of Faith, Liver Bards, The Sunset Sessions, The Dreaming and more.

Claire Beerjeraz is a spoken word artist, writer, workshop facilitator, performer and creative therapist. Combining creativity with activism, Claire uses creative mediums for positive change, discourse and healing.
