The UK Amateur Premiere of Les Misérables

Based on Victor Hugo’s timeless novel, Les Misérables tells a powerful story of love, redemption, and revolution, set against the turmoil of post-revolutionary France. The musical has captivated audiences worldwide for four decades with its cast of unforgettable characters from Valjean to Eponine, and a host of iconic songs including 'I Dreamed a Dream', 'One Day More', and 'Do You Hear the People Sing'.

This special amateur production at The Bristol Hippodrome brings to life the magic, passion and humanity of one of the world’s most beloved musicals in a way you won’t have seen before. Experience the power and beauty of Les Misérables in a new production that is designed and directed to deliver everything audiences have come to expect from Les Misérables, but in a particularly moving and inspirational interpretation of the dramatic story.

The Bristol Hippodrome, the city’s very own West End theatre, opened its doors on 16 December 1912 when the curtain rose for the first time on what was generally agreed to be Oswald Stoll’s most magnificent provincial theatre.

It is a superb example of the grand architecture of the late Victorian era and is one of the masterpieces of design by Frank Matcham, the most eminent theatre architect of his time.

Towards the beginning of the century, the theatre staged a variety of acts as a Music Hall. Since then, and due to the fact that it has one of the largest theatre stages in Britain, The Bristol Hippodrome has established itself on the touring circuit for all major musical productions, thus becoming known as Bristol’s West End Theatre.
