A NEW MUSICAL COMEDY IS ALIVE IN YORK THIS HALLOWEEN!
Pick Me Up Theatre bring you the premiere of Mel Brooks' YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN at The Grand Opera House York
Legendary filmmaker and comedian Mel Brooks brings his classic monster musical comedy Young Frankenstein to life on stage in an all-singing, all-dancing musical.
The horror-movie spoof is gleefully reanimated for the stage with even more jokes, superb set-pieces and barnstorming parody songs that stick a pitchfork into good taste!
Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced ‘Fronk-en-steen’) inherits a castle in Transylvania leading him to fulfill his grandfather’s legacy by bringing a corpse back to life. With help and hindrance from hunchback henchman Igor (What hump?), buxom assistant Inga, devilishly sexy Frau Blucher (Neigh!!!) and needy fiancee Elizabeth, his experiment yields madcap success and monstrous consequences.
Featuring 'PUTTIN' ON THE RITZ', 'PLEASE DON'T TOUCH ME', 'THE TRANSYLVANIA MANIA', 'THERE IS NOTHING LIKE A BRAIN!" and many more Transylvanian smash hits!!
Featuring JAMES WILLSTROP (World renowned Squash Champion continuing his transfer to the stage after playing Captain Von Trapp last Christmas), SANNA JEPPSSON (Maria in The Sound of Music), JACK HOOPER (Mr Poppy in last year's NATIVITY!), HELEN SPENCER (recently seen as the Mother Abbess and Dolly Levi), JENNIE WOGAN-WELLS (Narrator in Joseph) and CRAIG KIRBY (Mr Tom in Goodnight Mr Tom).
A STELLAR CAST IN A FABULOUSLY FUNNY MUSICAL - NOT TO BE MISSED.
Grand Opera House York
Not originally intended to be a theatre, the buildings that comprise the Grand Opera House York officially opened in 1902 with Little Red Riding Hood starring Florrie Ford. Since then it has been owned by FJ Butterworth, the Shepherd of Shambles and the India Pru Co. Ltd who spent £4,000,000 restoring the theatre to its former glory in 1987.
