Join us for a trick or treat themed tour of the building with spooky creative activities and tasks to complete along the way, appropriate for families with children under 11. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Tours last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes and involve a number of stairs. If you have any access needs please do get in touch before you visit via email.
Stage and backstage access is subject to availability as per the wishes of the production and is not guaranteed.

Sunderland Empire
Vesta Tilley laid the foundation stone of what is now the Sunderland Empire on 29 September 1906 and took to the stage on 1 July 1907 to officially declare the theatre open. Masterminded by two of the contemporary heads of British theatre, Edward Moss and Oswald Stoll, the Sunderland Empire Theatre has undergone many changes since it opened but remains the North East’s premier entertainment venue.
