For the first time, by special permission from Cameron Mackintosh and Music Theatre International, BMOS in collaboration with Bilston Operatic Society, Bournville Musical Theatre Company and West Bromwich Operatic Society, bring you the West Midlands amateur premiere of Boublil and Schönberg’s epic musical triumph.
Let The People Sing! is a UK-wide amateur theatre project celebrating the 40th anniversary of the worldwide phenomenon, Les Misérables. The project will see 11 community-wide productions of Les Misérables mounted across the UK.
Seen by over 130 million people in 53 countries and 22 different languages, we are delighted to be bringing this definitive amateur version to Birmingham.
Based on the acclaimed novel by Victor Hugo, Les Misérables features one of theatre’s greatest scores. Filled with evocative and emotional songs which have stood the test of time, including I Dreamed a Dream, On My Own, Bring Him Home, One Day More, Master Of The House and more.
Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables is a dramatic masterpiece of love, war, redemption and conflict. A true testament to the survival of the human spirit, the story of Jean Valjean and his quest for redemption has secured the place of Les Misérables as the world’s favourite musical.
Epic and uplifting, Les Misérables packs an emotional punch that has thrilled audiences all over the world and continues to hold the title of the West-End’s longest running musical.

Birmingham’s beloved theatre, The Alexandra, was built in 1901 by William Coutts and throughout its vast history, has become home to first class entertainment. In 2018, the venue underwent an extensive refurbishment and reverted to its original name, The Alexandra. The theatre is a valuable contributor to culture within Birmingham and the West Midlands, presenting first-rate musicals, drama, comedy and more.
