The upbeat score is reminiscent of Menken’s early work for Disney and was written whilst he was also composing Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Pocahontas. “In the numbers 'Abundance', 'Charity' and 'Christmas Together', with their dancing Christmas presents and loopily syncopated revellers, there’s more than a tip of the hat to the Rockettes.” (Variety)
The show includes all the traditional aspects of the original novel any audience will expect. We follow Scrooge’s journey from an emotionally deprived man all the way to the end where his heart opens up; and along the way we meet the Cratchit family, the three ghosts and revel at Fezziwig’s Ball. But this production tells the familiar story in a fresh, lively and visually dramatic way; making London itself one of the main features and introducing a host of colourful characters depicting the rich and the poor, and everyone in between, as they celebrate Christmas.
BLOC Productions has an enviable reputation for spectacular award-winning shows at The Hippodrome. Their last show, Elf – The Musical played to full houses for every performance and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang won the Rose Bowl for Best Musical.

Bristol Hippodrome
The Bristol Hippodrome, the city’s very own West End theatre, opened its doors on 16 December 1912 when the curtain rose for the first time on what was generally agreed to be Oswald Stoll’s most magnificent provincial theatre.
It is a superb example of the grand architecture of the late Victorian era and is one of the masterpieces of design by Frank Matcham, the most eminent theatre architect of his time.
Towards the beginning of the century, the theatre staged a variety of acts as a Music Hall. Since then, and due to the fact that it has one of the largest theatre stages in Britain, The Bristol Hippodrome has established itself on the touring circuit for all major musical productions, thus becoming known as Bristol’s West End Theatre.
