We currently have a display of paintings in our box office and will run this one-off event before they leave us.

“Lincoln Lightfoot is a well-established artist that has built up an excellent reputation across North Yorkshire. Lightfoot’s artwork explores surreal concepts based in well-known locations reminiscent of 1950’s-60s B-Movie Poster Art. Through the consumption of Art, we can deal with nightmares. As children we confront and make sense of a dangerous world through stories and rhymes and wish to be taught of danger through anecdote and myth”.

Not originally intended to be a theatre, the buildings that comprise the Grand Opera House York officially opened in 1902 with Little Red Riding Hood starring Florrie Ford. Since then it has been owned by FJ Butterworth, the Shepherd of Shambles and the India Pru Co. Ltd who spent £4,000,000 restoring the theatre to its former glory in 1987.
