Nights you don't want to miss

Join us for a very special evening as we welcome back our dear friend and one of literature's most fearless voices, Margaret Atwood, celebrating her long-awaited memoir, Book of Lives: A Memoir of Sorts.
Heralded as author, poet, activist, and truth-teller, Margaret's piercing insights and unflinching prose have earned her nearly every literary accolade, including twice-winning the Booker Prize, and established her as one of our era's most prescient cultural commentators.
Throughout the evening, travel with Margaret through the chapters of her life. Beginning with her unconventional childhood in the northern Quebec wilderness that fostered both independence and acute observation, through the seminal cultural moments she witnessed and built into her literary canon. You'll be introduced to the charismatic figures who've influenced her journey: her life partner Graeme Gibson, bohemian poets, Hollywood actors, and larger-than-life characters straight from the pages of an Atwood novel.
In today's climate, where many of her cautionary tales echo with renewed urgency, this rare opportunity to hear Margaret reflect on her own journey feels not just timely, but essential. She will also offer her insights into everything from feminism and freedom, to technology's double edge – topics that have defined her work for decades.
Don’t miss this opportunity to ask one of the most gifted storytellers in the world your own searching questions.
Opera House Manchester
Originally The New Theatre, it opened on Boxing Day, 1912. It went through several iterations, being renamed once before becoming the Opera House in 1920. It's also been used for different functions; as a cinema in WW2, then a bingo hall before reopening as a theatre again in 1984. Since, it has hosted magnificent shows like Barnum and Phantom of the Opera.
