Richmond Theatre
One of the oldest surviving theatres designed by iconic architect Frank Matcham, Richmond Theatre has sat in the heart of the local community since 1899.
The beautiful Grade II-listed venue presents a wide range of quality shows, from pre- and post-West End Drama to record-breaking musicals, opera, dance and family entertainment.
The theatre is also a popular filming location, having been used for film and TV including Finding Neverland, Bugsy Malone, Killing Eve and Ted Lasso.

Step Free Access and Wheelchairs
Richmond Theatre does not have a lift.
Level access is in the Stalls area accessed by a door to the left-hand side of the main stairs. Once you come through this door any seat in the Stalls area is accessible. Every other level requires the use of stairs, to reach the top of the building requires three flights of stairs. Handrails are on most stairs. Our Step-free entrance location on what3words is ‘cover.minus.factories’.
There is level access to the Stalls bar from the Stalls auditorium. There is a lower level counter near the door or ask us for At Seat Service when you arrive.
Our Ambassador Lounge is only accessible via stairs, as we do not have a lift in the building.
Recommended Seats - Stalls H1-4, H22-25 have additional legroom due to no seats being directly in front. All aisles in the Stalls area would be good for transferring from a wheelchair.
We have four wheelchair positions, and Stalls aisle seats are suitable if you wish to transfer to a theatre seat. From Stalls rows H to T there is a gentle incline.
Seat Width Information - The space between the armrests is 44cm/17 inches. The armrests are static. The only free-standing seats without armrests are in the Boxes in the Dress Circle and Platforms in the Upper Circle (these are all restricted view seats).
